RDIF: Sputnik Light as booster 83% effective against Delta COVID

MOSCOW, Oct 13 (PRIME) -- The Russian COVID-19 vaccine Sputnik Light shows an 83% effectiveness against the Delta variant of the virus as a booster vaccine and more than 94% against hospitalization, the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF) said in a statement Wednesday.

"The effectiveness of one-component Sputnik Light vaccine as a booster injection to other vaccines amounts to more than 83% against the Delta variant of infection and to more than 94% against hospitalization, close to the Delta-variant of Sputnik V vaccine," the RDIF said.

Preliminary studies of the combination of Sputnik Light and the vaccine produced by AstraZeneca in Azerbaijan showed the production of antibodies against the S protein of SARS-CoV-2 in 100% of participants, and also zero grave complications and zero coronavirus contagions after the application.
